Melugin Gets the Call
April 23, 2009
by R. Wayne
After last week's dismal performance by Rasmussen it should be no surprise that Wichita Wild head coach Ken Matous has decided to go with former Friend's star Alex Melugin Saturday night against Sioux City on Saturday night. Rasmussen had his worst game of the year against the Rage on Saturday night, completing a dismal 50% of his passes and throwing 4 interceptions in the blowout. Melugin has played sparingly this year, but when he did play he was solid, going 7 for 12 with a touchdown. (Continued)

Shockers Lose Again
April 23, 2009 by R.Wayne

The Wichita State Shockers once again failed to get anything going offensively in their 8th straight loss on Wednesday night. The Sooners were a good team but the Shockers made them look like All-Stars, giving up 8 runs on 9 hits. With the exception of the 5th inning, when they had two hits, the Shockers were unable to put up multiple hits in one inning. (Continued)

The Wild were unable to keep up with the Rage on Saturday as they got blown out of the building 52 – 31. The Rage put up 20 in the fourth quarter, helped by two picks on Rasmussen to go with the two he gave up in the 2nd quarter. I don’t want to be a naysayer but 4 turnovers in a game by one player is a lot. Four turnovers by a team is a lot but one player….that’s a rough night. Unlike the previous week the Wild were not able to get any ground game going, as it appeared that the Rage found out how to plug the holes in their defense. The game would have been a lot closer but the Rage scored 3 touchdowns off of Rasmussen interceptions, which doesn’t really give the defense any chance of stopping the other team.(Continued)

Fudge Leads the Wild to Victory
April 13, 2008 by Reginald Wayne

The Wichita Wild rode Darius Fudge all the way to victory Saturday night against the River City Rage, finishing them off 56 – 40. Fudge rushed for 101 yards on 28 carries and added a touchdown to lift the Wild to victory. The lift was needed as Rasmussen had another inconsistent game going 12 for 24 with 1 interception.
