Melugin Gets the Call

April 23, 2009 by R.Wayne

After last week's dismal performance by Rasmussen it should be no surprise that Wichita Wild head coach Ken Matous has decided to go with former Friend's star Alex Melugin Saturday night against Sioux City on Saturday night. Rasmussen had his worst game of the year against the Rage on Saturday night, completing a dismal 50% of his passes and throwing 4 interceptions in the blowout. Melugin has played sparingly this year, but when he did play he was solid, going 7 for 12 with a touchdown.

In his senior season at Friends Melugin was named the KCAC player of the year in 2008 after putting up stellar numbers for a very good Friends team. Their is a big difference between outdoor football and indoor football, but Alex does have some experience with running an eight man football team. A former Sunrise Christian Academy alumn he played four years at quarterback for their 8 man football squad. Saturdays game will be a challenge for the local boy but we are all rooting for him here at WSO.com.
